Between photo shoots of himself clearing brush, somehow POTUS managed to get some work in. Does anyone have any information on Notre Dame’s holdings in companies that are active in Sudan?

I met with Scott Malpass, Notre Dame’s Chief Investment Officer, over three years ago regarding Notre Dame’s holdings in controversial companies working in Sudan. The office was very cooperative and encouraged our inquiries. Mr. Malpass told us that Notre Dame was one of the few Universities in America that had a social responsibility policy with regard to its investments. The investment office has a “black list” of companies involved in activities that are morally reprehensible or against Catholic social teaching.
Mr. Malpass told us that he had initiated an investigation to see whether the companies involved in Sudan which we identified should be put on the “black list.” Unfortunately, he told us that the names of the companies on the black list were not released so there was no way for us to know the results of the investigation by the investment office. There is therefore no transparency and accountability. This is regrettable because Notre Dame could make a big impact by joining other prominent Universities and institutions by publicly declaring divestment from companies supporting the genocidal regime in Sudan.
